Professor Helen Worthington is awarded Emeritus Co-ordinating Editor by Cochrane

Co-ordinating Editors (Co-Eds) are key leadership figures within Cochrane Review Groups (CRGs), providing technical and content expertise to guide review production and evidence synthesis activities undertaken in their group. In 2020, several Co-ordinating Editors, who are retiring from their Co-Ed role in Cochrane, have been presented with Emeritus status. Cochrane Oral Health's former Co-ordinating Editor, Professor Helen Worthington, was one of the seven recipients.

Helen received the honour for jointly leading Cochrane Oral Health for 24 years, firstly with Professor Bill Shaw, and later with Professor Jan Clarkson. She was instrumental in bringing Cochrane Oral Health to the University of Manchester in 1996, and published her first Cochrane review in 2000. She has authored many of Cochrane Oral Health's most high profile reviews, and acted as mentor to many of our author teams over the years. She has also managed the editorial base, overseeing the work of the Editorial Team, and offering support and guidance.

Helen stepped down as Co-ordinating Editor earlier this year, and handed over her leadership position to Professor Anne-Marie Glenny, who now leads the group with Jan.

Many congratulations to Helen on this well-deserved award! Read an interview with Helen on Cochrane's website. More information about the other worthy recipients can be found here.
